#ShineBrightSVGTC

March 24, 20243 min read

If you asked me why SVGTC exists, I would instantly tell you it’s all for one moment. We’re here for the moment a child realizes they are wildly capable of doing something they previously thought they could not. We are forever coaching, planning, hiring and working with those opportunities in mind. As that feeling of awe settles in it can look different in different kids, but it’s my favorite in each and every form. Exuberant celebration or silent satisfaction, the expression matters not. It’s about the way kids shine from deep within because of a new knowing that they can be their own hero. They can do great things. When kids discover where their sustained effort can lead them it’s always a spark that begets more dream chasing, more hard work and more important lessons that drive character and growth. It’s fun. It’s magical and it makes everything worthwhile. Yes, I love well executed balance beam routines, pointed feet and double backs that find solid landings, but ultimately it’s always all about kids having opportunities to discover what makes them shine bright from within.

This focus has brought about a lot of growth at SVGTC over the past thirteen years. We still LOVE absolutely everything about gymnastics. We’re so proud of our gymnasts. Our ninja program has become a huge hit. Ninja kids literally scale walls! Cheer is rapidly growing and we’re all in for them. Tumble Bugs is full of growth and life too! We now have an amazing licensed preschool that gets to adventure into the gym daily. Compass Children’s Clinic is right here on site to provide meaningful support to autistic children through ABA and speech and language services, all with neurodiversity affirming values at the forefront. So much really fantastic stuff happens here for local kids-all so they can shine bright.

You’ll notice we are beginning to look a little different lately. Our logo has shifted to black and white, a color combination that matches our history. If you take a look through the leotards worn by many successful competitive seasons of #TeamSVGTC kids they are in timeless black and white. It’s a color combination that feels just right to us. Gender neutral. Well defined. Solid. Traditional. Focused. Then, we added a splash of GOLD.

“Gold is for winners!” I have teased as we’ve played around with it. Okay, that’s true. ;-) Perhaps that’s part of it, but there is a more precious layer in the symbolism that ties to the concept I opened with. We exist so kids can shine bright, doing what they love.

We’re so proud of our thirteen year history of providing quality programming for kids. This is truly the gym that was built by our community one enrollment at a time and we’re grateful. Many athletes, coaches and families have contributed their time, talents and love over the years to help build such a great place for kids to spend time. You’ll notice the star just to the left of the center star. That star is the Miss Brooke star because all of the love and hard work she poured into SVGTC will remain with us always.

You can expect more tweaks and eventual rollouts of icons and imagery to represent all of the various programs and the many different athletes that call SVGTC home. We’ll keep working hard until it’s all just right. I insist we represent all who belong here well so that together we can all SHINE BRIGHT.
